Kaza is the valley's largest municipality and economic centre, located along the Spiti River at an elevation of 3,650 metres (11,980 feet) above mean sea level. Kaza, a renowned tourist and adventure destination, is particularly known for its colourful festivals and the old Sakya Tangyud Monastery, which is located 14 kilometres outside of town.
