Kedarkantha Location

Kedarkantha Location

Kedarkantha is a Himalayan mountain peak in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It stands 12,500 feet tall (3,800 m). Kedarkantha is located within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in the Uttarkashi district.

A four-day trek to the peak of Kedarkantha usually begins in Sankri, a small village.

Kedarkantha and Juda ka Talab, a high altitude lake, are surrounded by a slew of myths.

Lord Shiva, according to legend, sat at the summit to meditate but was interrupted by a bull running below. Instead, he went to meditate in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand.

Another local legend is about the Pandavas, who went to the Himalayas to seek Lord Shiva's blessings. He disguised himself as a bull and went into hiding from Bheem. Bheem, on the other hand, recognised him and pursued him. As a result, Shiva disappeared underground. He caused his body parts to separate when he rushed out of his hiding place, and each part fell in a different location. His throat fell on the Kedarkantha, giving the peak the name "Lord Shiva's Throat" (transliteration).
